Ave Maria

Wendell Powell has been selected as Ave Maria's Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending December 8th, 2013. The 6-5 junior forward led the Gyrenes to a 1-1 week averaging 19 points and six rebounds per game. Powell recorded 19 points and seven rebounds in a last-second loss to Johnson & Wales and followed that up with a 19 point, five rebound performance against Johnson University (Fla.).

The Gyrenes return to the hardwood on Tuesday when they host Florida National University at the Tom Golisano Field house. Tip off is set for 7p.m.
