Travis Makauskas has been selected as Ave Maria’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 19th, 2014. Makauskas caught seven passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns on Saturday in the Gyrenes 38-35 win over Southeastern. Makauskas recorded the first score of the game on a 12-yard touchdown reception and then put the Gyrenes ahead for good with a 33-yard touchdown reception late in the third quarter. He was also named Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

The Gyrenes sit at 2-5 overall and 1-1 in TSC play heading into next week's matchup against Webber International in Lake Wales.
