Cross Country's Michaela Elmer has been named this week's Female Athlete of the Week. It's the first time this season that she has been named the Gyrenes Female Athlete of the Week. 

Elmer, a freshman out of Escondido, Calif., led the Lady Runnin' Gyrenes to a third place finish at the Southeastern Fire Short Course Invitational on Friday night with a 2-mile time of 12:06. She finished 12th overall out of 67 runners.

The Runnin' Gyrenes return to action on Sep. 19 when they travel to Gainesville, Fla., to take part in the University of Florida's Mountain Dew Invitational.
