Football's Thomas Zimmer has been named this week's Male Athlete of the Week. It's the first time this season that he has been named the Gyrenes Male Athlete of the Week. 

Zimmer, a 6-3 senior wide receiver from Margate, Fla., caught three passes for 126 yards and a touchdown. His long catch was an 83-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter against Pace.

The Gyrenes return to Ave Maria this week for their home opener against  fourth-ranked Saint Xavier (Ill.). The game is schedule to start at 11 a.m.
