Akii Dean has been selected as Ave Maria's Co-Male Athlete of the Week ending December 9th, 2012. Dean, a junior guard out of Orlando, Fla., tallied 23 points in the Gyrenes’ two wins at the Florida Christian College Christmas Classic. AMU first topped Trinity College 80-70 on Friday night. The junior was solid in every aspect of the Gyrenes win; tallying 10 points, six rebounds, five steals, and four assists. The Gyrenes then wrapped up the weekend with a win over host-team Florida Christian by a final score of 73-62. Dean had 13 points in the win and played all 40 minutes of the game.
The Gyrenes return to the court for the final time this semester on Saturday, December 15th. They will face Florida College at the Tom Golisano Fieldhouse with a tip-off that is slated for 1p.m.
