Kiel Lewis has been selected as Ave Maria's Male Athlete of the Week ending January 6th, 2013. Lewis, a senior guard out of Orlando, Fla., tallied 29 points in the Gyrenes’ two wins at the USCAA Classic held at AMU over the weekend. The senior first tallied 17 points, 8 steals, and 8 assists in their 80-67 win over Virginia University of Lynchburg. The Gyrenes then wrapped up the USCAA Classic with a big win over Daemen College by a final score of 61-54. Lewis had 12 points in the win, along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Lewis finished the week shooting a hot .688 from the field and .857 from the free-throw line.
The Sun Conference play begins again this weekend for the Gyrene men. AMU takes on Southeastern University on January 12th for a 7p.m. matchup with the Fire.
