Alex Sanchez has been selected as Ave Maria's Co-Male Athlete of the Week ending January 27th, 2013. Sanchez finished the opening weekend for the Gyrenes batting .429 with five runs scored, two RBIs, two stolen bases, and two extra-base hits (2B, HR). In addition to his performance at the plate, Sanchez was stellar defensively; successfully completing all of his team-high 22 chances (14 A, 8 PO). The Gyrenes finished the weekend with a 3-1 record.
The Ave Maria University baseball team returns to the field this weekend on the road for a three game series at Florida Christian College. Game time is slated for 3p.m. on Friday afternoon followed by Saturday’s double header that begins at 12p.m.
