Joe Bocchino has been selected as Ave Maria's Male Athlete of the Week ending February 10th, 2013. Bocchino, a junior RHP out of Fort Myers, Fla. pitched nine innings over two games this week while giving up no earned runs on six hits. In his first conference game of the year against Warner, Bocchino completed eight innings while fanning eight batters. The Gyrenes completed their conference opening weekend with a sweep of Warner (11-8, 5-0, 6-5).
The Gyrenes have a quick turnaround and return to the field today when they travel to Palm Beach Atlantic for a non-conference matchup. The first pitch is slated for 6p.m.
