Beth Vaccarezza has been selected as Ave Maria's Female Athlete of the Week ending February 10th, 2013. Vaccarezza, a junior pitcher/third-baseman out of Valley Springs, Calif. picked up her first win of the season versus Edward Waters. She completed five innings, allowing one run on six hits and struck out five batters. Vaccarezza also was also stellar at the plate; she finished the day batting .667 with two RBIs and a run scored.

The Lady Gyrenes return to the field on Wednesday when they travel to Broward College for a non-conference matchup. The first pitch of the double-header is slated for 5p.m.
