Kingsley Avery has been selected as Ave Maria's Female Athlete of the Week ending February 24th, 2013. Avery, a freshman outfielder out of Auckland, New Zealand led the Lady Gyrenes offensively this week. She hit .500 (8-16) and finished with an .875 slugging percentage over the week with eight runs scored, six stolen bases, three triples, and two RBI. She currently ranks #2 in the NAIA II in triples (3) and has helped lead AMU to #3 overall in total stolen bases (38).
The Lady Gyrenes return to the field on Wednesday when they host Miami Dade College for an exhibition matchup. The first pitch of the double-header is slated for 3p.m.
