Tyrell Everett has been selected as Ave Maria’s Male Athlete of the Week ending September 29th, 2013. Everett, a freshman out of Miami, Fla. had a big game defensively and on special teams for AMU on Saturday in the Gyrenes 27-3 win over Warner University. Everett put the Gyrenes on the board quickly in the second half, returning the opening kickoff 85-yards for a touchdown. As the clock wound down to the final seconds of the third quarter, Everett intercepted the Royals' pass at the 50 yard line, giving the Blue and Green great field position heading into the fourth. His interception set up an 11-play, 50 yard drive to the end zone that gave the Gyrenes a 27-3 lead they never relinquished.
The Gyrenes return to the field on Oct. 5 when they travel to Selma, Ala. to take on Concordia (Ala.). Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
