Box Score 2 CLEARWATER, Fla. --- The Ave Maria volleyball team fell in both of their opening day games at the Clearwater Christian College Invitational, dropping 3-0 decisions to Pensacola Christian and Florida College. The Lady Gyrenes return to the court tomorrow for day two of the invitational against Point Park (Pa.) and host Clearwater Christian.
In the first match, the Lady Gyrenes fell in three sets (19-25, 16-25, 25-27) to Pensacola Christian. Jessica Schein led AMU with six kills and 23 assists. Veronika Garcia led the Blue and Green in assists with 24. Lexy Smith finished with a team-best 4.5 blocks.
In the Lady Gyrenes' second match of the afternoon, against Florida College, AMU fell in three sets (15-25, 19-25, 22-25). Garcia and Schein again led AMU in assists with 26 and 24, respectively. Meridith Morgan recorded a team-high six kills in the match and Calee Dineen tallied 5.5 blocks for the Lady Gyrenes.
The Blue and Green return to the court on Saturday for day two of the Clearwater Christian Invitational. They will take on Point Park (Pa.) at 11:30 a.m. and host Clearwater Christian at 1:30 p.m.
