BABSON PARK, Fla. --- The Ave Maria volleyball team wasn't able to overcome a slow start Wednesday night, falling at Webber International in three sets (11-25, 13-25, 21-25). The Blue and Green return to the court on Friday when they travel Warner for a 7 p.m. contest.
Lexy Smith led AMU with six kills, hitting at a .308 clip. Jessica Schein recorded a team-high 14 assists.
The Lady Gyrenes fell behind early in each of the first two sets allowing Webber to jump out to a quick 2-0 set lead. In the third set, the Gyrenes got off to a better start and took an early 6-2 lead. The rest of the set went back-and-forth before Webber pulled away late to take the set 25-21.
Ave Maria returns to the court on Friday when they travel to Lake Wales to take on Warner University.Â
