AVE MARIA, Fla.—The visiting Florida Memorial Lions used five first half goals to jump out to an early lead on their way to a 6-1 defeat over the Ave Maria Gyrenes men's soccer team. AMU will next play Saturday at Saint Thomas University.

The offense of the Lions wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, notching their first goal four and half minutes into play. Florida Memorial would go on to add four more before the half was up to take a 5-0 lead.

Ave Maria got on board 27 minutes into the first half when Brandon Rodriguez fed Juan Carlos Bucaram for his third goal of the season.

The Lions tallied their final goal in the 81st minute of play to secure the 6-1 victory.

With the loss, Ave Maria drops its record to 1-8 and 0-6 in the Sun Conference.

The Blue and Green will now hit the road for their next contest. AMU will travel to Saint Thomas University this Saturday to take on the STU Bobcats.  The Gyrenes will return home to take on Webber International on Tuesday, October 21st.
