AVE MARIA, Fla.— The Ave Maria Gyrenes and the Webber International Warriors went toe to toe in Tuesday night's TSC battle, with the Warriors knocking in the game winning goal two and half minutes into the first extra period of overtime to walk away with a 2-1 victory.
AMU was able to strike first, as Resam Moghimi converted on a penalty kick in the 35th minute of the opening half to give the Gyrenes a 1-0 lead. The goal by Moghimi was his third of the season.
The Blue and Green would take their lead into the half, before surrendering the equalizer on a Webber International penalty kick in the 51st minute.
The two squads would remain knotted at one for the remainder of the half, before the Warriors were able to put home the winning goal two minutes into overtime.
With the loss the Gyrenes dropped their record to 1-10 and 0-8 in the Sun Conference.
The Gyrenes are back on the pitch this coming Thursday, when they travel to Temple Terrace Fla., to take on Florida College. Thursday's matchup with the Falcons is set for 4:00 p.m. This will be the first ever matchup between AMU and Florida College.
