AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's and women's cross country teams will compete in their fifth meet of the season when the teams travel to Hardeeville, SC. on Saturday for the eighth annual Sand Shark Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina Beauford.

The course will start and finish on the Hardeeville school campus and loops around a large pond on an adjacent property. More than 40 teams — and an estimated 300-325 runners per gender will run in this race that is comprised of some of the top teams from the NAIA and NCAA Division two.

The Gyrenes are coming of a successful meet last weekend as Trevor Coules and Lauren Dunleavy were each named The Sun Conference Cross Country Runners of the Week for the week ending Oct. 19. This is the first TSC Weekly Honor for both runners this season.

Coules, a native of Fraser, Mich., ran the 8K in a time of 28:19.30 at the Berry College Invitational this past weekend. He finished in 60th place individually out of 185 runners.
Powell, Wyo. native, Dunleavy, ran a time of 24:20.90 in the 6k race to finish in 29th place out of 191 runners. This was the first 6k race of the season for the women's cross country team.
