NORTH MIAMI, Fla.— It took 110 minutes to decide, but in the end the Ave Maria Lady Gyrenes would walk away with a tie against TSC foe Johnson and Wales University. The final score of Thursday's battle was 1-1. AMU will next take on Northwood University this coming Saturday.

Freshman Alexia Mazzaccone started the scoring off, tallying her first goal of the 2014 season in the 18th minute. Mazzaccone's first goal as a Lady Gyrene was assisted by sophomore Anne Bateman. Bateman's assist was her third of the year, raising her team leading points total to 13.

The Blue and Green would take their one goal lead into the half, securing it for most of the afternoon. In the 79th minute of play, the Wildcats were finally able to break through the AMU defense and notch the game tying goal.

The Wildcats goal would be the final goal of the day for either team, as both squads were able to hold the other scoreless through the last 16 minutes of play and two overtime periods.

The Lady Gyrenes now have a record of 4-8-1 overall and a TSC record of 0-7-1.

The Lady Gyrenes will conclude their 2014 season on the road this Saturday when they take Sun Conference opponent Northwood University.
