HARDEEVILLE, SC. --- The Ave Maria men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Hardeeville, S.C. on Saturday for the Sand Shark Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina Beauford. USCB welcomed 19 women's teams and 37 men's teams. The meet was comprised of teams from Division II as well as the NAIA. The Sun Conference had several teams competing including; SCAD-Savannah, Embry-Riddle, Southeastern, Webber, Warner, USCB and Johnson & Wales.
The Green and Blue competed in their fifth meet of the regular season as both teams will compete next week in the Sun Conference championship meet.
The AMU men's team finished 26th overall in the 8K race, led by
Trevor Coules (Fraser, Mich.) (27:13.07), and
Thomas Mullally (Jeddo, Mich. ) (27:20.80). Â
Kyle Dujakovich (Heyworth, Ill.)Â (29:08.63),
Ethan Weltens (Bandera, Texas) (29:09.37) and
John Gargano (Fort Myers, Fla.) (29:51.10) rounded out the five placers for the Gyrenes.Tennessee Wesleyan won the men's overall race placing three runners in the top ten.

The AMU women's squad notched a 26th place team finish in the 5K race, led by
Lauren Dunleavy's (Powell, Wyo.)'s 61st place finish (19:27.78).Â
Brigid Lennon (Ann Arbor, Mich.) (20:52.90),
Gianna Gambera (Navarre, Fla.) (20:53.90),
Patricia Madeleine Conley (Fort Worth, Texas) (22:17.20) and
Emma Patriquin (Wilder, Vt.) (22:22.50) rounded out the five scorers for AMU. SCAD Savannah won the overall team race placing two runners in the top five.
The Gyrenes will compete in their last race of the season on November 1, when they travel to West Palm Beach, Fla. for the Sun Conference Championship.
