Volleyball Set To Host Pair Of TSC Opponents

AVE MARIA, Fla. – After nearly two weeks away from competition, the Ave Maria volleyball team returns to the court to host Florida Memorial on senior night on Thursday before welcoming St. Thomas to Tom Golisano Field House on Saturday afternoon. These are the final two home games for the Blue and Green this season.
 
In their last match, the Lady Gyrenes dropped a hard-fought three set match at Warner. Lexy Smith and Hannah Wurster led the Blue and Green with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Jessica Schein led AMU with 35 assists while also tallying 11 digs. Mary Eckard had 15 digs to lead three Lady Gyrenes in double-digit digs.

This is the second meeting between Ave Maria and Florida Memorial this season. The Blue and Green won the previous meeting in straight sets (25-19, 25-17, 25-20) at Florida Memorial.
 
In that match, Lexy Smith had 10 kills while Ashley St. Hubin added seven kills for AMU.
 
Arasy Guerra led the Lady Lions in both kills (9) and assists (13) in the earlier meeting with the Gyrenes. Guerra has tallied a team-leading 116 kills on the season.
 
Prior to Thursday's match, AMU will honor its two seniors, Calee Dineen and Mary Eckard.

The Lady Gyrenes and the Lady Bobcats will meet for a second time this season when they face off at 2 p.m. on Saturday. St. Thomas won the previous meeting in three sets in Miami Gardens.
 
Against St. Thomas ealier in the season, Lexy Smith had 11 kills and hit at a team-best .429 clip. Schein recorded 25 assists while Eckard totaled 14 digs. Marisa Markus recorded 15 kills against the Gyrenes in the first meeting while Dana Nowaczyk tallied a team-high 37 assists.
 
Whitney Battoe leads the Lady Bobcats with 264 kills on the season followed by Markus with 234. Nowaczyk comes into the week with 901 assists on the season.
