AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's basketball team travels to Jacksonville on Tuesday night for a matchup with Trinity Baptist College before returning to Tom Golisano Field House on Saturday to take on Florida College. AMU looks to improve on its strong start after going 3-0 last week.

The Gyrenes got off to a slow start, narrowly defeating Trinity College last week, 57-52, before routing Clearwater Christian, 94-41, and Covenant College, 92-54. Brandon Pasker led the Gyrenes by averaging 15 points and 6.3 rebounds in the three games. Pasker finished with a game-high 28 points against Covenant on Saturday.

Akii Dean and Jelani Bonner are also off to strong starts to the season as both are averaging in double-figures with 11.3 and 11 points per game, respectively. Bonner is averaging 5.3 rebounds per game while Akii Dean is averaging 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest.

Trinity Baptist College comes into the week with a 1-3 overall record after falling to Florida College and Reinhardt last week. The Eagles opened the season with a loss to Florida National before defeating Edward Waters in their lone win of the season. Trinity Baptist averaged 82.5 points per game last season and finished the 2013-14 season with a 17-6 overall record.

Florida College began the 2014-15 season with matchups against three Sun Conference opponents. They fell to Southeastern, 85-67, and Warner,78-55, before defeating Webber International, 81-75. Jan Zornjan led the Falcons with 24 points, 12 rebounds, and four steals against Webber. In the game, Dennis Gravely and Darian Anthony also finished in double-figures with 15 points and 13 points, respectively. As a team, Florida College shot 60 percent from the field.
