TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. --- The Ave Maria women's basketball team held Florida College scoreless for the first 12 and a half minutes of the game to jump out to a 20-0 lead and forced 36 total turnovers en route to a 78-41 rout on Tuesday night. AMU improves to 4-2 on the season.

Ashlee Rioux finished with a team-high 13 points to go along with four rebounds, three steals and two assists. Annie Artise tallied 12 points and six rebounds. AMU was able to use a balanced attack in the win with 12 different Lady Gyrenes' scoring.

The Blue and Green were able to take advantage of the Florida College 36 turnovers, turning them in to 21 points. AMU also dominated in the paint, outscoring the Lady Falcons 26-6 down low.

The Lady Gyrenes couldn't find their rhythm offensively in the opening minutes but their defense came out in a stingy full-court press that prevented Florida College from getting on the board.

After scoring 17 points in the first 12 minutes of the game, back-to-back threes by Taylor Lindsey sparked the Gyrenes offense as they scored 26 points in the final eight minutes. Florida College was held to five points in the first 18 minutes before scoring 11 in the final two minutes of the half to make the score 43-16 at the break.

Ave Maria continued to build its lead in the second half with the lead reaching a game-high 38 points on a Jasmine Bateman three with 3:08 remaining.

The Lady Gyrenes return to the court on Saturday when they travel to St. Augustine, Fla. to take on Flagler College at 2:30 p.m.
