AVE MARIA, Fla. – The Ave Maria University Lady Gyrenes will play in three non-conference games this week, and one conference game against Webber International University December 2nd. Ave Maria split the regular season series and defeated the Warriors in the championship game of the Sun Conference tournament 70-69.
GREEN AND BLUE NEWSThe Ave Maria women's basketball team played three games prior to the Thanksgiving break. AMU held Florida College scoreless for the first 12 and a half minutes of the game to jump out to a 20-0 lead and forced 36 total turnovers en route to a 78-41 win. Ashlee Rioux finished with a team-high 13 points to go along with four rebounds, three steals and two assists. Annie Artise tallied 12 points and six rebounds. AMU was able to use a balanced attack in the win with 12 different Lady Gyrenes' scoring. The Blue and Green were able to take advantage of the Florida College 36 turnovers, turning them in to 21 points. AMU also dominated in the paint, outscoring the Lady Falcons 26-6 down low.Â
Flagler College defeated the Lady Gyrenes 65-76 in St Augustine. AMU got an early lead on Flagler 9-4 three and a half minutes into the game. The rest of the half saw several lead changes before the Saints went on a 14-1 run with 2:55 minutes to go in the half. Nine second half turnovers made it difficult for the Lady Gyrenes to put themselves ahead. The Saints were able to score 16 points off of AMU's second half turnovers. Annie Artise led the Lady Gyrenes with 15 points and 12 total rebounds. Madison McDonald also scored 15 points; while Vincent chipped in 13 points and had 8 total rebounds on the afternoon.Â
The Lady Gyrenes fell to NCAA DI Florida Gulf Coast University, 102-54, on Sunday November 23. The Gyrenes drop to 4-4 on the season. Artise led all-scorers with 17 points and recorded a game-high seven rebounds in the loss. She also had two blocks. Alanna Roswarski added nine points and a team-high four assists. The Lady Gyrenes are currently 4-3 on the season.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORSThe Warriors are currently 2-1 on the season. Their only loss on the season was to NCAA Division I appopnent, Florida A&M 52-41. Head Coach,Grady Morell is in his fourth season at Webber. The Warriors have a new frontline this season, as they return no starters from last season. Jurnee Pettigrew, Deslyn Applewhaite, and Quanthavia Stalworth are averaging 50% of the teams total points and rebounds in the 2014-15 season.
SCOUTING THE SAILFISHPalm Beach Atlantic is currently 2-5 on the season. They defeated Colorado Christian University in Denver, Colorado (68-64) and Puerto Rico Rio-Piedras (72-24). Head Coach Carlos Palacio is in his third year at PBA and is led by Nkiruk Anyagaligbo who is averaging 11.9 ppg and seven rpg; and Nana Krstic who is averaging 10 ppg and 8.9 rbg.

SCOUTING THE EAGLESThe Eagles, who compete at the NCCAA level are currently 3-5 on the season for Judy Allen. The Gyrenes will play the Eagles on Friday, December 5 and Saturday, December 6.
