AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's basketball team fell, 66-60, in double overtime to Trinity Baptist on Thursday night. The Blue and Green drop to 6-5 on the season. AMU will take on Georgia Gwinnett on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Brandon Pasker led the Blue and Green with 18 points. Exor Torres added 13 points to go along with five steals. Jelani Bonner grabbed a game-high 12 boards and totaled nine points on the night.

In a defensive game, the Gyrenes took a 24-23 lead into the break thanks to a couple late threes by Torres and Brandon Barnes.

The Blue and Green got off to a slow start in the second half and trailed by six, 38-32, with 6:03 remaining in the game. With four minutes to play, Torres made a pair of free throws and then a three to pull AMU within one, 41-40. The Gyrenes took the lead, 43-41, with 2:20 left to play when Bonner converted the old-fashioned three-point play. Trinity Baptist made a basket on the ensuing possession to tie the game at 43-all and send the game to overtime.

In the first extra period, the Eagles scored four of their six points from the free throw line and took a quick six-point lead on AMU. The Gyrene then battled back with two consecutive baskets by Pasker and a jumper by Bonner to again tie the game and send it into a second overtime frame.

In the second overtime stanza, Trinity Baptist made 15-of-18 from the charity stripe to pull away from AMU.
