AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria women's basketball team defeated Trinity Baptist College, 79-37 in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon. The Gyrenes are 6-4 on the season, 0-1 in the Sun Conference. The Blue and Green will return to the court Wednesday, December 10th at Tom Golisano field house when they will play Johnson & Wales University in a Sun Conference game at 6 p.m.

16 members of the team saw action on the court as AMU had another balanced scoring attack, as 13 Lady Gyrenes scored. Taylor Lindsey led the way with 10 points. Madison McDonald made her presence known offensively as she contributed nine points and four assists. Annie Artise chipped in 9 points and seven rebounds. The bench continues to strong for AMU as they scored 40 points.

The Eagles of Trinity College came out strong to start the game scoring five unanswered points midway through the first half. With the score tied 18-18 with 10 minutes to go; AMU got down to business and went on a scoring run of their own. The Green and Blue scored 28 points in the next 10 minutes, to Trinity Baptists' five to go into the locker room with a 22 point lead.

The shutdown defense of the Lady Gyrenes forced 10 second half turnovers and a 12 percent shooting percentage for the Eagles. They also dominated the boards 61-21.

AMU shot 43.5 percent from the floor and made 8-of-19 from behind the arc.
