BABSON PARK, Fla. --- The Ave Maria University men's basketball team (5-3; 0-1 TSC) fell 56-43 at Webber International (1-8; 1-1 TSC) on Saturday evening. The Blue and Green return to the court on Tuesday when they host Johnson & Wales in a Sun Conference matchup at 7:30 p.m.
 
Eric Richardson finished with a team-high 15 points to go along with three rebounds. Brandon Pasker chipped in eight points for AMU. Jelani Bonner grabbed a team-leading 14 rebounds on the night.
 
AMU shot 30.2 percent from the field and made 5-of-23 from behind the arc. Webber made 41.3 percent of their shots including 10 makes from three.
 
The two teams exchanged baskets for the first several minutes of the game with Webber maintaining a slim lead. With 8:22 remaining in the half, Richardson hit a three to tie the game at 16-16 before Pasker made a layup to give the Gyrenes their first lead at 18-16 with 5:41 to play in the opening half.
 
After Webber retook the lead, Richardson made another three with 1:14 left in the half to put the Blue and Green up 27-26. A late basket by the Warriors made the score 28-27 in favor of Webber at the break.
 
AMU kept it a one point game for much of the second half before an 11-1 run over six minutes by Webber made the score 52-51 with 1:10 remaining.
