CLEARWATER, Fla. --- The Ave Maria women's basketball team shot 50 percent from the field en route to a 74-31 rout of Clearwater Christian on Tuesday night in AMU's final non-conference match of the season. The Lady Gyrenes improve to 10-6 overall.

The Blue and Green return to the court on Thursday night when they welcome Southeastern to Tom Golisano Field House for a Sun Conference contest.

Twelve different Lady Gyrenes' scored in the win led by Annie Artise's 16 points. Artise also pulled in four rebounds. Madison McDonald tallied 13 points, three steals, and three assists. Andrea Mauger recorded a season-best 11 points and six rebounds for the Lady Gyrenes.

McDonald and Artise opened the game with back-to-back three to help AMU jump out to a 6-0 lead. After a pair of free throws by Clearwater, Artise hit a jumped followed by another three by McDonald to put AMU up 11-2.

Leading 11-4, AMU went on a 13-0 run to extend their lead to 25-5 with 8:20 remaining in the first half. The Blue and Green closed the half on a 12-3 run to lead the Cougars 41-15 at the break.

The Lady Gyrenes pushed their lead to 55-20 nearing the midway of the second half and then went on a 12-4 run capped by back-to-back jumpers by Mauger. Ave Maria went on to win 74-31.

The Lady Gyrenes shot 50.8 percent from the field and made 7-of-19 from behind the arc. They had 22 assists in the game and 14 steals. The Blue and Green outrebounded the Cougars 42-22. The Ave Maria defense held Clearwater Christian to 20.5 percent (9-of-44) shooting from the field.
