Lady Gyrenes To Play Two Conference Games

AVE MARIA, Fla. – The Ave Maria University Lady Gyrenes will play two conference games this week. The first game will be played Thursday night at Johnson & Wales in North Miami at 5:30 p.m. This is the second meeting of the season. Earlier this season; the Lady Gyrenes defeated  the Wildcats  75-58.

 On Saturday evening, the Lady Gyrenes will take on Webber Internatiobal University at Tom Golisano field house at 5:00 p.m. Webber defeated the Lady Gyrenes earlier this season 46-65. 
 
GREEN AND BLUE NEWS
The Ave Maria women's basketball team went 1-2 last week against TSC opponents. AMU  was defeated by Northwood University 66-69 in a tough battle. Annie Artise scored a career high 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. In the second game of the week, the Lady Gyrenes defeated Warner University 74-56 for their second win in TSC play. On Saturday afternoon, Thomas University got the win over the Green and Blue 57-73. Artise averaged 22.6 points this week for AMU.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
The Wildcats are currently 6-13 overall, 2-7 in TSC play. Last week they were defeated by conference frontrunner Webber 88-70 and Embry-Riddle 72-57. Joanne Tran is averaging 16.1 ppg and 4.07 apg while Kristina Bridges is averaging is 15.2 points and 7.1  rpg to lead the Wildcats.. Currently, Johnson & Wales is nationally ranked:
•Number 12 in Division II in 3-Pt Fg Pct (0.355)
•Number 47 in Division II in Total Rebound Defense (37.895)
•Number 49 in Division II in Turnover Margin (1.105)
 
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
The Warriors are currently 14-3; 7-1 TSC this season under head coach Grady Morrell. Their lone conference loss was to St. Thomas with a score of 57-49. Deslyn Applewhaite is currently averaging 12.06 ppg, 2.6 apg and; while Jurney Pettigrew is averaging 10.3 ppg and 5.9 rpg. Currently, Webber is nationally ranked:

•Number 10 in Division II in Steals per Game (12.647)

Milestones:
McDonald is 9 points shy of 1,000 points scored in her career (991 total points). McDonald played her first two seasons at LaGrange College where she scored 385 for the Panthers.

Record Book:
Artise is currently in 4th place in total points scored in her career in the AMU Women's Basketball record books (1,081). This week she moved ahead of former teammate Erin Murphy who scored 1,030 points in her career (2010-14).
