Baseball Takes On Edward Waters In Opening Weekend

AVE MARIA, FL—The Ave Maria University baseball team will play host to Edward Waters College this weekend for a three game series to open the 2015 season. The Gyrenes will play a full 55 game schedule, 32 of which are slated to be at home.
WHEN: The 2015 season will kick off with a double header at 11am Saturday January 31
st with a double header, followed by a single game at 12 pm on Sunday February 1
st.
WHERE: All three of this weekend's game will be played at Bowie's Ballpark on the campus of Ave Maria University.
2015 GyrenesThe green and blue will feature a healthy mix of new and familiar faces on the diamond this season. A combination of 20 freshman, 8 sophomore, 8 juniors and 12 seniors. This season also marks the first with head coach Casey Scott at the reigns. The Gyrenes look to improve upon 2014's final record of 22-30.
SCOUTING EDWARD WATERSEWC will be making the trip down state from Jacksonville for the weekend series. The Tigers are members of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference that spreads out over 6 southern states. This weekend will also be the start of the 2015 season for Edward Waters following a 2014 campaign that resulted in a 24-27 overall record.
