AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria volleyball team took down the visiting Lady Lions of Florida Memorial in straight sets on Friday night, 25-15, 25-22, 25-22. With the win, Ave Maria tied the school record for most win in season with 12. The previous record was set in 2011 when the team went 12-19. AMU is currently 12-7 overall and 1-3 in TSC play.

Ave Maria jumped out to an early lead in the first set, cruising to a 25-15 win. The Lady Gyrenes committed just two hitting errors in the opening set. Florida Memorial improved throughout the night and were able to push the Lady Gyrenes in each of the final two sets, with AMU coming out on top 25-22 in both the second and third games.

The Lady Gyrenes hit .305 on the night and had 43 kills compared to 11 errors. The Lady Lions hit at a .173 clip.

Lexy Smith tallied a game-high 16 kills followed by Bre Holder with six and Marie Mendez with five. Veronika Garcia and Lauren Ruby finished with 16 assists and 14 assists, respectively. Ruby and Monique Rivers each finished with two service aces. Ruby also tallied a team-high nine digs followed by Jessica Schein and Keke Smith with seven apiece.

The Lady Gyrenes return to action on Saturday night when they host St. Thomas at 6 p.m.
