AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's soccer team battled hard for 90 minutes but came out on the wrong end of a 2-1 decision on Thursday night against (RV) Florida Memorial. Fabrizio Bucco had the lone goal for the Blue and Green.

After over 75 minutes of scoreless play, Florida Memorial broke a 0-0 tie with a goal in the 77th minutes to take a 2-1 advantage. Just over three minutes later, Bucco netted the equalizer off a crossing pass from Carl Bishop. Still tied in the 86th minute, the Lions took a 2-1 lead with 4:32 to play.

Florida Memorial outshot the Gyrenes 18-3 with and 8-1 advantage on shots on goal.

Andrea Salomone made six saves in the loss.

The Gyrenes return to action on Saturday when they welcome St. Thomas University to AMU Soccer Field for a 6 p.m. tilt.
