AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria women's soccer team defeated Florida Memorial 4-2 on Thursday afternoon. The Blue and Green netted three first half goals before adding an insurance goal in the second half.
 
The Blue and Green improve to 5-5 win the win.
 
Florida Memorial scored first with a goal 4:45 into the match. The Lady Gyrenes responded quickely with a goal four minutes later by Anna Koerner off a pass from Sarah McBride.
 
The Blue and Green took the lead in the 37th minute when Anna Koerner converted a penalty kick. After a Florida Memorial tied it up at 2-2, Sarah McBride scored just before the end of the half to give the Gyrenes a 3-2 advantage heading into the break.
 
Laura Mastandrea put some breathing room between AMU and FMU in the 62nd minute when her shot from the top of the box went over the keepers head and into the back of the net.
 
Francesca Singleton picked up the win for AMU, making nine saves and allowing two goals.
 
The Lady Gyrenes return to action on Saturday when they welcome St. Thomas to AMU Soccer Field for a 4 p.m. tilt.
