CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. --- The Ave Maria women's basketball team concluded its trip to Boston with a 78-62 win over NCAA DIII Pine Manor College on Saturday afternoon. AMU finishes the weekend with a 3-0 record to move to 5-1 on the season.

The Lady Gyrenes held a seven point advantage, 19-12, after the first quarter but used a 27-10 second quarter performance to take a 46-22 lead into halftime. AMU extended its lead to 31, 67-36, before a fourth quarter rally by Pine Manor brought the final to 78-62.

Lauren Gillingham led the Lady Gyrenes with 22 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and four steals, all game-highs. Over the three games in Boston, Gillingham averaged 18.7 points, 12.7 rebounds, and four assists.

Taylor Lindsey scored 14 points to go along with six rebounds. Annie Artise (13 pts.) and Jasmine Bateman (12 pts.) also finished in double-figures for AMU.

The Blue and Green shot 45.3 percent (29-of-64) from the field and made five threes. They converted 15 of 17 attempts from the free throw line. AMU outrebounded Pine Manor 40-31.

The Lady Gyrene defense help Pine Manor to 38.7 percent shooting and to just 5-of-26 from beyond the arc. Alexis Lee led Pine Manor with 20 points. Sybil Lynch and Erica Jones finished with 14 points and 10 points, respectively.

Ave Maria held a 30-20 edge in points off turnovers and had a 42-36 advantage in points in the paint. The AMU bench outscored the Pine Manor bench 21-16.

The Lady Gyrenes return to action on Tuesday night when they travel to Boca Raton, Fla., to take on Lynn University in an exhibition game. The game is scheduled to tip at 5:30 p.m.
