AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria softball team will welcome NCAA Division I Oakland University to AMU Softball Field on Wednesday afternoon for a midweek doubleheader. Game one will begin at 12 p.m. with game two starting 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game (approx. 2 p.m.).Live stats will be available for the game.

LADY GYRENES RECAPÂ
The Blue and Green went 1-3 last weekend against a pair of NCAA Division II opponents. On Saturday, the Lady Gyrenes were swept by Eckerd College by scores of 6-2 and 9-0 (5 innings). On Sunday, Ave Maria dropped game one to 14
th-ranked Tampa 10-0 but rallied for eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat the Spartans 14-13 in game two.

The Lady Gyrenes are off to a 5-7 start to the season. As a team, AMU is hitting at a .251 clip and has scored 42 runs. The Blue and Green have had some success creating runs this season, as they rank 16
th in the NAIA in stolen bases with 19 on the year.

Individually, Alyssa Colding and Cheyenne Benson are each hitting above .300. Colding has 11 hits in 31 at-bats for a .355 average with six runs, five RBI, and four doubles. Benson is hitting .300 with five runs scored, five RBI, and two doubles. McKayla Jeter has come up clutch with runners on. She has nine hits and seven RBI.

In the circle, Benson has pitched to a 2-4 record with a 1.86 ERA in six starts. She has three complete games and allowed 22 runs, only 10 of which have been earned. She has 32 strikeouts compared to 12 walks. Emily Lemin has also started six games for the Gyrenes and has a 3.89 ERA in 36 innings. She has a 2-3 record on the season.

SCOUTING OAKLAND UNIVERSITYÂ
For a second year in a row, the Lady Gyrenes will welcome Oakland to AMU Softball Field. The Blue and Green fell to the Golden Grizzlies last year 2-0 in game one and 10-2 in eight innings in game two. This season, Oakland is off to a 4-6 start. They are coming off of a 2-3 showing at the 2015 FGCU/Four Points by Sheraton Softball Invitational in Fort Myers this past weekend and will take on FGCU in a doubleheader on Tuesday night.

Coming into the week, Sarah Hartley has been the best hitter for the Golden Grizzlies. Hartley has 14 hits in 33 at-bats for a .424 batting average with two doubles and a home run. She has scored 10 runs and has 11 RBI on the year. On the base paths, she is four-for-four in stolen bases. In total, Oakland has six batters hitting over .300 on the season.

In the circle for the Golden Grizzlies, Erin Kownacki will likely get one of the starts. Kownacki has a 2.62 ERA in four starts. She comes in with a 2-2 record and opponents are hitting .219 against her. She has allowed seven runs while striking out 12 and walking five on the year.Â
