AVE MARIA, Fla. – The Ave Maria University Lady Gyrenes will play two conference games this week. On Wednesday night; the Lady Gyrenes host Embry Riddle at and will then hit the road on Saturday when they take on St. Thomas in Miami Gardens, Fla. at 2 p.m.The Lady Gyrenes are currently 12-11; 3-8 in TSC .

GREEN AND BLUE NEWS
The Ave Maria women's basketball team went 1-1 last week against TSC opponents. AMU was defeated by Johnson & Wales 67-71 in a hard fought game that saw 16 lead changes. In the second game of the week, the Lady Gyrenes defeated Webber International game 81-65. Previously, Webber was second in the conference standings, as the win helps build momentum for the Lady Gyrenes as they go into the last three weeks of the regular season. Lauren Gillingham had a stand out game with 16 points, 12 rebounds (both career highs), and three assists in the win. Annie Artise averaged 17.5 points and nine rebounds. in the two games, while Madison McDonald averaged 17 points, and three assists on the week.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
In the Lady Gyrenes first meeting with the Bobcats this season, AMU lost 51-71. The Eagles are currently 13-7 overall, 4-5 in TSC play. Last week they were defeated by Florida Memorial  83-68. Sabrina White is averaging 11.7 ppg, while Mercedes Jorge is averaging 8.0 rpg  to lead the Eagles. Currently, Embry-Riddle is nationally ranked:

Last week they were defeated by conference frontrunner Southeastern 70-67. Dannisha Piece is averaging is 20.5 points and 9.2  rpg to lead the Bobcats. Currently, St. Thomas is nationally ranked:

Milestones:
McDonald scored her 1,000 career point in the loss to Johnson & Wales last week. McDonald has scored 1,025 points overall and is in fifth place in the AMU Women's basketball record book in total points scored. She passed former teammate Cassie Kreiger (2010-2014), who scored 968 points and is five points away from surpassing Erin Murphy (2010-2014) who scored 1,030 career points.
Record Book:
Artise is currently in 2nd place in total points scored in her career in the AMU Women's Basketball record books (1,116). She trails current assistant basketball coach, Emily Huber who scored 1,684 points in her career (2009-2013)
