Clearwater Christian opened their season this past Tuesday night as they suffered a 9-3 defeat to division II Eckerd College in St. Petersburg. Head Coach Bob Rossiter leads a relatively young squad into the 2015 season comprised of seven freshman, five sophomore, six juniors and two seniors. Although they couldn't get in the win column, the Gyrenes put on an impressive offensive performance slugging five home runs in their first three games. Â Senior Tucker Starkey (Mayville, Ky.) and freshman Rico Soto (Naples, Fla.) look to continue leading the way for hitters as the pitching staff looks for a fresh start in a new weekend and a new series.
