MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. --- The Ave Maria Lady Gyrene basketball team fell at St. Thomas on Saturday, 70-50, in a Sun Conference contest. Annie Artise and Taylor Lindsey each tallied 13 points to lead the Blue and Green.

The Lady Gyrenes return to the court on Tuesday when they welcome Florida Memorial to Tom Golisano Field House for a TSC matchup.

Lindsey added six rebounds to go with her 13 points. Yvanessa Vincent recorded eight points and eight rebounds on the afternoon.

The Lady Gyrenes and Bobcats exchanged three's to start the game and AMU hung with league-leading St. Thomas over the first ten minutes of the game. But a 10-2 run followed by a 14-2 run by St. Thomas put the Blue and Green behind 42-22 at the half.

St. Thomas' lead grew to as many as 29 in the second half before the Lady Gyrenes cut it back to 18 late in the half, eventually falling 70-50.

The Gyrenes shot 31.1 percent from the field compared to 50.9 percent by the Lady Bobcats. St. Thomas was led by Dannisha Pierce who tallied 19 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists.
