Baseball Weekend Preview

Gyrenes Take On Spring Arbor University In Three Game Set

Ave Maria, Fla.—This weekend the Ave Maria baseball team will play host to Spring Arbor University who will be traveling down to Florida for their spring trip. The three game series will be played at Bowie's Ballpark beginning Friday at 2:30 p.m. and continuing on Saturday with a double header starting at 11 a.m.

THE GYRENES
AMU will be getting back onto the field this weekend to continue their busy spring schedule. The Friday afternoon tilt with Spring Arbor will be their sixth game in five days. The Gyrenes come into the weekend riding a three game win streak and are winners of four of their last five contests.

Last season, Spring Arbor visited Ave Maria and was able to win two of three against the blue and green. This year AMU will rely on a powerful offensive attack and timely pitching to win the series against the Cougars.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Spring Arbor will be taking the field for their first games of the season this weekend. Weather has put a damper on the early part of the baseball for many teams across the country and SAU has been no exception as the Cougars first seven games of the season have been cancelled due to poor conditions.

SAU will be bringing with them a balanced roster of youth and experience with eighteen upperclassmen and eight freshmen. They are looking to improve upon a 2014 campaign that resulted in a 33-17 overall record and an NAIA tournament appearance.
