Baseball Bested By Tennessee Wesleyan 9-3Daytona Beach, Fla.—On Monday afternoon the Ave Maria baseball team was in Daytona Beach to take on Tennessee Wesleyan College on the campus of Embry-Riddle. The Gyrenes who are now 10-15 on the season after suffering the 9-3 defeat at the hands of the Bulldogs.
GAME RECAPTennessee Wesleyan had a high powered offense on display at Sliwa Stadium Monday afternoon. The Bulldogs were able to rack up fifteen hits on the afternoon, including three doubles and two home runs.
Wardy Polanco (Haverstraw, N.Y.) led the way at the plate for Tennesse Wesleyan with four hits, one of which left the park for a solo home run.
Taylor Saucedo (Maple Valley, W.A.) earned the win for the Bulldogs, going six innings and striking out six. The junior lefty was able to keep the Gyrenes bats quiet, allowing only one earned run on two hits.
For Ave Maria, senior Aaron Pigna (Miami, Fla.) was able to collect one of the three Gyrene hits on the day and the lone RBI. The other two AMU runs were unearned.
