JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Ave Maria volleyball team completed a 3-0 sweep of Florida Memorial in their first game of the day at the Edward Waters Invitational. The Lady Gyrenes improve to 2-1 on the season with the win. 
 
Game Recap 

• Leading 10-8 with Monique Rivers serving, the Lady Gyrenes ran off 11 straight points, including three service aces by Rivers, to take command of the opening set 21-8. AMU went on to take the first set 25-14.
• With the a back-and-forth second set tied at 22-all, the Blue and Green were able to take three of the final four points of the game to take the set 25-23.
• Leading by two, 13-11, AMU was able to string together four straight points to put some space between them and Florida Memorial. The Blue and Green then won seven of the sets final nine points to take the set 25-15.
• The Lady Gyrenes had 10 more kills than Florida Memorial, 31-21, and six more blocks, 13-7.

Stat Leaders

• Lexy Smith tallied a season high six solo blocks and two block assists. She also added eight kills for AMU.
• Bre Holder also recorded eight kills.
• Veronika Garcia and Lauren Ruby each tallied double-digit assists with 12 and 11, respectively.
