JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Ave Maria volleyball team cruised to a three set win over Trinity Baptist Tuesday night. With the victory, the Lady Gyrenes improve to 10-2 on the season.

The Blue and Green jumped out to big leads in each of the first two sets, allowing the Lady Gyrenes to cruise to a 2-0 lead by scores of 25-15 and 25-10. Trinity Baptist took advantage of some Lady Gyrene errors in the third set to allow the Lady Eagles to take a 9-6 lead. The Blue and Green responded by winning 19 of the final 23 points to take the third set 25-13.

Lexy Smith led the Lady Gyrenes with 16 kills on the night. She hit at a .625 clip and had five total blocks. Marie Mendez and Lexie Andric each tallied five kills for AMU.

Lauren Ruby finished with 15 assists while Monique Rivers recorded a team-high nine digs.

As a team, the Lady Gyrenes had a hitting percentage of .338 with 37 kills with 12 errors.

Ave Maria returns to the court on Thursday when they welcome Florida College to Tom Golisano Field House for a 6 p.m. tilt.
