Men's Soccer Falls in First TSC Action

Box Score Ave Maria, FL—The Ave Maria Univeristy Men's Soccer team was back on the pitch for their first Sun Conference test against Johnson & Wales University on Wednesday evening. The Gyrenes kept pace with the Wildcats through the first half of play but in the end fell by the score of 4-0.

The first goal for JWU came from Kenneth Quesada (Miami, Fla.) at the 35:28 mark, as his medium range shot from the middle of the field just beat AMU goalkeeper Andrea Salomone (Genoa, Italy). After the goal, the score would hold a 1-0 as the two team headed into halftime.

In the second half, the Wildcat offense came alive and despite several quality opportunities, the Gyrenes were unable to respond.

Patricio Rolon (Buenos Aires, Argentina) was the first to score in the second half for JWU, off a corner kick at 56:59. Senior Bryan Zuluaga (Manizales, Colombia) added the teams second goal of the half and third of the game as his header found the back of the net at 61:57. Bradley Langhorne (Davenport, Fla.) scored the fourth and final goal for the Wildcats after making a brilliant field length run and driving a shot past the AMU keeper.

For the Gyrenes were able to put three shots on goal during the match and took six in total. Salomone saved five of the nine shots he faced.
