AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria women's basketball team fell to the visiting Webber International Warriors, 60-53, on Thursday night. Taylor Lindsey led the Blue and Green with 16 points and six rebounds.

Lauren Gillingham finished with nine points and six rebounds while Annie Artise added seven points and six boards. Cassidy Lalumiere grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

The Lady Gyrenes shot 38 percent for the game and were 5-of-22 from three. Webber International made 46 percent of its shots. Quanthavias Stalworth led the Warriors with 15 points and eight rebounds.

The Blue and Green fell behind early after Webber opened the game on a 10-2 spurt to take an eight point lead midway through the quarter. AMU battled back and pulled to within one on a Gillingham jumper with 1:03 to play in the opening quarter. With AMU trailing by as many as nine in the second quarter, the Lady Gyrenes closed the deficit to five, 31-26, at the half.

AMU was outscored 13-6 in the third quarter and went to the fourth trailing 44-32. Down by as many as 16 in the final quarter, the Blue and Green were able to get some threes to fall, including one by Kandice Smith with 1:11 to play to close within six, 57-51. Webber responded with a layup, and-one to extend the lead back to nine. Webber held on to win by seven, 60-53.

The Lady Gyrenes hit the road on Saturday when they travel to North Miami to take on Johnson & Wales at 2 p.m.
