LAKE WALES, Fla. --- The Gyrene Football team fell on the road on Saturday, dropping a 14-9 contest at Webber. The Blue and Green held a 6-0 lead before 14 unanswered points by Webber gave the Warriors the lead.

The Gyrenes struck first with a one-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Kreichman to Troy Olmo a few minutes into the game. AMU would hold that lead into the second quarter before the Warriors scored on a one-yard rush by Bargaineer made it 7-6 Webber. Another touchdown rush by Bargaineer later in the quarter made it 14-6 at the half.

After a scoreless third quarter, Brandon Leon nailed a 28-yard field goal to cut the AMU deficit to five, 14-9. The Gyrenes had a couple chances to score later in the quarter but were unable to find the endzone.

Kreichman finished 8-for-15 for 65 yards and a touchdown. He also led AMU on the ground with 23 carries for 65 yards.

Brian Byrd and Nicholas Mendelsburg each caught two passes for 27 and 12 yards, respectively.

On the defensive side of the ball, Ayshad Thornton finished with eight total tackles and had half a tackle for a loss. Ilan Jorge had six tackles and forced a fumble for the Gyrenes.

Ave Maria finished with 121 yards of total offense compared to 229 total yards by Webber.

The Gyrenes return to action next Saturday when they travel to Jacksonville to take on Edward Waters at 7 p.m.
