The Ave Maria University men's soccer team ended their 2016 season with a heart-wrenching loss on Monday afternoon, allowing a goal to Southeastern University with under ten minutes to play in a 1-0 defeat.
Â
After a game which saw both teams just miss scoring opportunities, the Fire put one in the back of the net with less than seven minutes to play. Southeastern's Tyler Grey scored the game-winning goal off a rebound.
Â
Ave Maria goalie Andrea Salomone kept the Fire out of the net for most of the contest, amassing 7 saves in the losing effort.
Â
The loss concludes the Gyrene season, which included a road victory over Trinity College in September.
