The Ave Maria University women's soccer team fell in their season finale, surrendering four second half goals in a 5-0 defeat at the hands of the Fire from Southeastern University. The Lady Gyrenes finish the 2016 season with a 5-10 mark, including three wins in Sun Conference play.

Ave Maria trailed just 1-0 at the half, thanks to six saves from goalkeeper Francesca Singleton. The lone Southeastern tally came in the 20th minute on a strike from Heidi Ruth.

Southeastern scored three times in the first ten minutes of the second half, and added their final goal in the 68th minutes. Three of the four second half goals were scored by Uchenna Kanu, who also assisted on the first goal. Soraya Martinez also scored a goal, while Konya Plummer tallied three asissts.

The Gyrenes were outshot by Southeastern 26-1, with the sole Ave Maria shot coming off the leg of Caitlin Waites. Singleton finished the contest with 12 saves, and played the entire match in goal for the Gyrenes.

Monday afternoon's contest concluded the season for the Gyrenes, who upped their conference win total from 2015 in the first season under head coach Emily Tyner.
