Ave Maria, FL – The Ave Maria University Lady Gyrenes volleyball team fell in straight sets to Keiser University on Tuesday night 25-16, 25-21, 25-22 in what was their final home showing of the 2016 campaign. The match was a makeup date from October that was caused by the arrival of Hurricane Matthew.

Keiser came out firing on all cylinders, jumping out a an early lead in the first set. Nikki McKown, Chantelle Zamora and Samantha Thompson led the way for the Seahawks on offense as they took the first set 25-16.

The Lady Gyrenes would not go quietly, as they held leads in several stages both the second and third sets but were unable to nail down the points needed to take a set and pull back within striking distance.
Lexy Smith and Hannah Wurster were the top offensive performers for AMU, notching 11 and 10 kills respectively.

Up next for women's volleyball is a Sun Conference match with Warner University as they travel to Lake Wales, tomorrow night.
