Ave Maria, FL – The Ave Maria University men's basketball team lost a hard fought game against Truett-McConnell University on Friday night at the Tom Golisano Fieldhouse. Although the Gyrenes found themselves within striking distance late in the second half, they were unable to close the gap and fell by a final score of 91-84.
The Bears came out hot from the three point line in the first half, shooting nearly 70 percent from long range. Their 52 first half points created the separation that they would need to sustain an evenly contested second half. Deonte Dixon led the way for the Gyrenes, turning in another impressive performance. The junior guard from Bremerton, Washington posted a game high 34 points while knocking down 9 shots from beyond the arch. Fellow junior Tejai Allen added 17 points of his own while leading the team with 7 assists.
