AVE MARIA, Fla. – The Ave Maria women's basketball team fell to the visiting Bobcats of St. Thomas University, 72-50 on Saturday afternoon at the Tom Golisano FH. The loss wraps up the 2015-16 season for AMU and drops the Lady Gyrenes to an season overall record of 11-15 and a 4-12 mark in Sun Conference play.
Ave Maria's two seniors, forwards Annie Artise and Yvanessa Vincent, were honored in a ceremony following the game.
Four Lady Gyrenes finished in double figures with Taylor Lindsey leading the way with 14 points. Annie Artise finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Lauren Gillingham also recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Jasmine Bateman also added 10 points for the home team.
The Lady Gyrenes trailed by 19 after the first two quarters and weren't able to recover. AMU outrebounded STU 41-39, but were outshot 43.9%(25-57) to 27.0%(17-63) from the field. Supavadee Kunchuan led St. Thomas with 24 points and 10 rebounds.
The game concluded the 2015-16 season for Ave Maria. Their record of 11-15, 4-12 was good for seventh place in the conference standings.
