AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's basketball team fell to the visiting Fire of Southeastern University, 82-57, on Wednesday night.

Brandon Dean led the Gyrenes with 18 points and seven rebounds. He was 6-of-16 from the floor and made three threes. Martez Harris added 11 points for AMU. James Stoll made a pair from behind the arc to finish with nine points in 22 minutes.

The Blue and Green shot 36.8 percent from the floor and were 7-of-21 from three. AMU was outrebounded 36-27.

Southeastern was led by Larry Taylor who finished with 17 points and eight boards. He made four threes. Isaac Barsh and Elijay Ray also finished in double-figures for Southeastern with 11 points and 10 points, respectively.

The Fire shot 51.8 percent (29-of-56) from the field and were 13-of-26 (50 percent) from behind the arc. Both teams shots over 70 percent from the free throw line.

Southeastern came out firing, beginning the game on a 12-0 run to put the Gyrenes in an early hole. AMU cut the deficit to six but another run near the end of the half gave the Fire a 36-21 advantage heading to the break.

In the second half, Southeastern quickly extended their lead and led by as many as 30 before eventually taking the game by a final score of 82-57.

Ave Maria returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Warner to Tom Golisano Field House. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
