GULF SHORES, Ala. --- The Ave Maria softball team snapped their seven-game skid on Saturday afternoon with a pair of wins over Brenau (Ga.) and No. 5 Central Methodist to wrap up pool play at the Gulf Coast Invitational. AMU defeated Brenau 9-4 before topping Central Methodist 6-1 in the nightcap.
Game 1 The AMU bats came alive at last as the Lady Gyrenes were able to push across four runs in the third, two in the fourth, and three in the seventh innings to defeat Brenau.

Genevieve Twigg and
Miranda Dessecker all finished with a pair of hits in the game. Shadley, Avery, and Dessecker also tallied two RBI apiece.
Sadie Mosher picked up her fifth win of the season with a complete game effort in the circle. She allowed four earned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out nine.
Game 2A balanced offensive effort saw Ave Maria score runs in all of the first five innings versus the Eagles. Marinna Shadley,
Deanna Stirtzinger, and Genevieve Twigg each tallied two hits in the game to lead AMU.
Gennifer Raulerson pitched a gem for her fifth win of the season. She allowed one earned run on six hits and a walk, while striking out seven.
The Lady Gyrenes conclude pool play at the Gulf Shores Invitational with 2-2 record. They now await their opponent and seeding for championship day on Sunday, March 6.
